Just wanted to pop in and give you a little background on why I decided to start this collaborative blog with my uni roommates. All four of us suffered through the various trials of studying undergrad business together – choosing a major, learning how to navigate a competitive environment, and ultimately all deciding to recruit for careers in consulting.
Luckily, our apartment served as a makeshift round table on all topics personal and professional, but it didn’t take us long to discover that, beyond asking older friends and each other, there wasn’t much engaging content online about what it’s really like to be a young professional, in consulting or otherwise.
Our personalities are vastly different, from the brooding introvert (hi) to the social butterfly, and we all approach our professional goals quite differently. We decided to create a shared platform so it’s easy for you to find content on similar professional topics, written from a variety of angles. Additionally, we’re conveniently based in cities spanning the west to east coast, giving you insight into life in four major US cities.
We named the site Cubicholia, a feminine play on the words ‘cubicle’ and a positive twist on the familiar melancholic feeling that too-often accompanies. Whether you’re a student looking for information on what it’s really like to enter the workforce as a young professional, one of our friends we forced to read this, or a fellow twenty-something trying to make it in the city, we’re here to provide relevant content in a transparent, lighthearted way.
Check out our individual writer spotlights and catch the ‘cubicholia’ (and kick some serious corporate ass) with us.
